South County ARES: Donations NeededSouth County ARES ("SCARES") relies on the time and resources of our members to provide emergency communications in southern San Mateo County. Our members pay no monetary dues but contribute extensively of their time and expertise. We educate and train new hams, CERT volunteers in comms; we support a wide variety of community events which provide us with great training and experience. We rely on the generosity of members and others for donations to pay our bills and fund our amateur radio communication projects. We have a UHF (70cm) repeater on top of the Hall of Justice in Redwood City. We have a 6m repeater located at the Kings Mountain Fire Station (thanks to KMFS for providing the space for the repeater and duplexer). We developed a portable auxiliary UHF repeater several years ago. The projects need supplies and equipment . Improving emergency comms in our area costs money and our funds are limited. If you would like to help us improve emergency communications in southern San Mateo County, here are some opportunities:
If you prefer, you may send a check payable to South County ARES, Inc. to our treasurer: South County ARES, Inc.
