The Special Olympics held their annual Walk for the Gold on Saturday October 13th. SCARES was there to provide communications and course assistance. The weather was great. There were two occasions that our assistance was required. The first was that the only water station ran out of water and had to be resupplied. The second was a walker down because of heat exhaustion. The on site medic and San Mateo Fire responded. The walker was given water and shade so she recovered in a short period.
